Hillsborough Conuty Illegally Blocks Intercounty Access To The Regional Transportation Hubs

 Commissioners the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission wants residents of Pasco, Sarasota, Hernando etc., to be forced to utilize Tampa based transportation services for the ride home from Tampa airport & cruise ship terminals to protect their local constituents business interest!

 In fact, in a move to limit competition & force non-Hillsborough based travelers to use Hillsborough ground transportation from Tampa airport & cruise ship terminals, the Hillsborough Comissioners recently raised licensing fees 900% as a measure to make it "tougher" for motor carriers to obtain licensing to pick up their people. Gunny's Letters of protest to State Senator Mike Fasano & Hernando's Representative Rob Schenck fell on deaf ears.  

To Service Residents needs for transportation to TAMPA, ORLANDO & PORT CANAVERAL the Hernando, Citrus, Pasco, Pinellas and other small county passenger motor carriers offering transportation to interstate transportation hubs that are in demand for their local customers must obtain at a minimum, 12 combinations of  licenses, vehicle permits & local vehicle-for-hire driver's licenses or your local transportation service simply avoids offering transportation to particular areas.

Gunny & a small group of motor carriers known as the Florida Intrastate Transportation Alliance are pushing for legislation that will preempt any local regulatory entity from imposing any economic regulation upon limousine & small bus operators when they enter a jurisdiction for the sole purpose of loading prearranged or chartered passengers for transport to a point outside the regulators jurisdiction.

Tampa Limousine Regulator Increases Licensing Fees On Hernando & Pasco Motor Carriers With Mike Fasano & Robert Schenck Remaining Silent

A prime example why the State of Florida must take action through preemption or placing the licensing under one State Agency.

In a move to block new market entrants, the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission has raised the licensing fees as follows:

Hearing Officer

From $400 to $600

Vehicle Permits

From $150 - $500
